Papers, 1784-1894.

The collection contains correspondence and records generated by several generations of the Jackson family of Clarksburg, Harrison County, Va. (now W. Va.). Of particular note among the correspondence, 1805-1894, are the letters, 1805-1822, written to John George Jackson (1777-1825) concerning his political and legal career, and his involvement with land purchases in Ohio and western Va.; and the letters, 1860-1876, of Meigs Jackson (1842-1876) of Nevada, Mo., to his mother, Caroline Virginia (Moore) Jackson, regarding the presidential election of 1860, and advice offered as both son and lawyer concerning her financial affairs in Clarksburg. Other items in the collection include accounts, records of land sales and leases, and several deeds to land purchased in Ohio and West Virginia.
